PublicSift Signal products organize selected public-source records into monitoring feeds for general reference. This page explains typical sources, how processing works, and known limitations.
Public sources (by product)
Depending on the product, inputs may include:
- City of Chicago open data related to building, health, and business records (for Chicago Signal products such as roofing, pest, and restaurant-opening monitoring)
- USAC Form 470 open data (for E-Rate related monitoring)
- USAspending API data (for federal recompete / contracts monitoring)
- U.S. Department of Labor OSHA enforcement bulk data (for OSHA / construction safety monitoring)
Not every product uses every source. Product pages describe the feed relevant to that site.
Timestamps and source links
Where practical, product feeds include timestamps and links back toward official or source records so users can verify context. Source portals and APIs may change fields, URLs, or availability without notice.
Automation and filtering
Feeds are produced with automation and rules-based filtering (for example, keyword or category rules aimed at a trade or use case). Filtering can miss relevant records or include false positives. Automation does not replace human review of official records.
Known limitations
- Delays between an official publication and appearance in a PublicSift feed are possible
- Omissions can occur due to API limits, source outages, parsing issues, or filter rules
- Upstream source schema or content changes can affect completeness or field mapping
- Historical samples on marketing pages may not reflect the live feed window
Corrections
If you believe a PublicSift feed page contains a clear processing error, email support@publicsift.com and include the site name in the subject line (for example, the product brand shown on the site), plus a link or identifier for the item in question. We may correct downstream presentation where appropriate; official source systems remain authoritative.
